Joe's Birthday
| View |

Today is Joe's Birthday. Joseph and I made a cake - I know it doesn't look that great but boy does it taste good! We also made him baked ziti last night and yes it was actually edible :) We are surprising him with going to Biddles tonight - it is a piano bar restaurant.
Okay, update on the adoption - the infamous I171H (this is the USCIS document that says we are fit to bring an orphan into this Country) - Thank you Homeland Security :) came earlier this week and didn't stay in the house even one hour - had a copy of it notarized and sent it to Tallahasse for Certification. It should be back next week and I already have the letter, money order and fedex envelope ready to send it to Houston for Authentication - then off to our agency for critical review, translation in to Mandarin and to China - I was hopeful to be logged in (LID) for September but I think I'm being overly optimistic so my new time frame is early October - I'll be very happily surprised if we get our LID in September though! I'm also planning on celebrating that event (LID) whether it is September or early October with my mother and sister who will be here from 9/30 - 10/14 (well my sister one week). Joe, Joseph and I are really looking forward to their visit and especially since they will be here to celebrate Joseph turning 7! Hope everyone is having a nice end of summer....

We have all finally agreed on a name. Since we began our journey we started a "baby naming jar" but unfortunately have not been able to all agree until now..... We had dinner this week with our dear friends Bruce & Paulette who are semi-related to us, our dogs are sisters from Michigan. Bruce offered the name that we all finally agreed on....Mimi which means "longed for child". Since Mimi is short for many names, Miranda being one, her official name will be Miranda Rae (I wanted part
of her name to be from the sun). Her middle name will be taken from her Chinese name once we know it. Joseph decided we should write their names in the sand to make it official.
Last weekend we traveled to Sunrise Florida to Wannado City with our wonderful neighbors, Marybeth and Spencer (http://www.wannadocity.com/map.php) We all had an awesome time. The boys loved it as you will see from the slideshow below.
We are back from our boat trip in one piece :) On the adoption front, we were happy to have returned home to our Florida docs returned authenticated from Houston. Now we continue to wait on the I171H - where is it!!!! After that we are on our way to Date to China. Below are pics from our boat trip - it was a long trip and quite the experience! We enjoyed our time with Aunt Nancy very much and we are now seasoned boaters for sure! The locks were a cinch for all of you who were worried about that :) Slide show below...
