In Memory of our Precious Chloe

Below is a slideshow of some of the many, many pictures we took of our beautiful Chloe. She was something special... She touched many lives and we are grateful that everyone in our family had the pleasure and honor of knowing our Chloe girl. We know we are grateful for the 2 wonderful years she blessed our family....
Aren't we all so lucky to have known this BEAUTY.....

Log in Date

Today we received our official Log in Date from the CCAA (Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs) This means they officially accepted our Dossier and this is the date they will use when matching us. Next we will receive actual correspondence that comes from CCAA in a mysterious brown envelope. We were starting to feel overwhelmed with how long the wait has become since we started this process. It seems like a distant dream for the day we actually will see our daughter's face. We must remind ourselves to have patience.

I found this Chinese proverb today...

With time and patience, the mulberry leaf becomes satin. With time and patience the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown.

Dolphins....

Here are 2 pictures from our recent trip where Joseph participated in a Dolphin Dockside feed. It was an interactive program for kids and he was able to feed and play with the dolphins.

Also, I figured out how to add links so if you couldn't view the slide show from the Duck Key post, scroll down to it and there should be a link that works :)

Duck Key

We have successfully made our second big boat trip. This time to Duck Key. It is not quite in Key West but is part of the Keys of Florida. It was a beautiful place and the trip was awesome. We traveled with 9 other boats - the largest being a 50 Foot Egg Harbor and the smallest being a 26 Foot Pursuit - we were right in the middle with the others which were 34 - 40 foot Formulas. To see pictures from our trip go to this link:

We returned from our trip to a box of gifts from Aunt Christina - beautiful books on China adoption and learning to count in Mandarin and an awesome guide to learning to speak Mandarin. We are very grateful for these gifts! Earlier this month Aunt Donna left a beautiful Cross for Mimi's room before she left and it feels good to have gifts to put away for her. Thank you both so very much!!

On the adoption update, we are still awaiting our official LID from the CCAA in Beijing

Fortune Cookie....

Sunday night in our house is Chinese food night. The ritual actually started before our adoption process but is even more special to us now. Our favorite part is opening our fortune cookies after we eat. Tonight Joseph's fortune was "Even the longest of days will come to an end" Very appropriate as we now are in the waiting stage. The fortune cookie also taught us how to say automobile in Chinese - Qi-che. By the time we leave for China, Joseph and I will be speaking Mandarin fluently. For all you lottery players this fortune cookie also gave us lucky numbers which I'm sure are winners. They were: 34, 20, 17, 47 and 9. Go on, go play the Lottery - if you win, you owe us half the winnings :)

Today was a beautiful day here in Florida (oh, I forgot every day is beautiful :) Seriously, the weather was perfect and we enjoyed a great day of boating with our wonderful neighbors Marybeth and Spencer. See slide show below....

Bye Mom..... Bye Grandma....

Our visit with mom/grandma is coming to an end.
We are sad to say goodbye but are
grateful for the time we spent
and the memories we created..
Thanks to Grandma
1. Joseph learned that his new friends are
his cronies
2. We ate really good meals and have
lots of frozen leftovers
3. We discovered that Jimmy's Pink Cadillac
restaurant really is good - even
two days in a row
4. We joined the 21st century with some
sort of media center tv that is like having
TIVO b/c mom complained enough about not
knowing what was on
5. We loved having lunch at Jaynes
Garden, especially with Joe there to
complain about the health food
6. We had our Tea lunch in Naples which
was awesome even without Roger,
the owner dude who mom loves
7. We discovered a whole new set
of fancy pants shops to peruse and
returned lots of things I shouldn't
have bought in the first place, and
for that Joe is eternally grateful....
8. We will never eat at the Jalapenos
Mexican restuarant again since her
last night here we had really bad
food.... but the awesome Mariachi
band made up for it - Thank Goodness...
9. Found a really cool boutique that
I wouldn't have gone into had
she not been here.
We will miss you.........
Love us...... Our final pics of the visit.

Congratulations! Your dossier has been delivered to the China Center of Adoption Affairs

That was the subject from an email from our agency yesterday! Yeah, our Dossier is in China where our daughter is - that feels really good. October is our lucky month - Joe and I met in the month of October, Joseph's birthday is in October and now we are DTC in October.

My mother and I did some shopping for a change today :) I miss my sister and wish she was still here :( She would have loved the Waterside Shops in Naples. The Louis Vuitton store was my favorite - I didnt' buy anything but it was fun to look. I hear they are discounted in China so I'll have to wait until then to buy one.....

Last picture b4 she left me..... Miss you - come back soon :)

Update

On the adoption front, WE ARE DATE TO CHINA!!!!!! It is somewhat anti-climatic after the 5 month paperchase and then some setbacks once we thought we were done but at the same time it is so freaking exciting!!!! The Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) was closed this week for holiday so our agency had to hold all dossiers. It was sent express mail to Beijing and then a representative from our agency will hand deliver it to the CCAA. We then get our LID (log in date) this will officially start the countdown to our referral. Then we hurry up and wait for our referral for our daughter. We are hopeful this will happen in 2007 and we will be able to go to China and bring her home.

My mother and sister are here visiting and we are having an awesome time - see slide show for updates. I will be adding pics to the slideshow below as we take them so check back often for your dose of us :) I know you New Yorkers wish you were here.....
